2019 HIGHLIGHTS

2019 HIGHLIGHTS

From the discussions in the rooms to the industry momentum, the atmosphere surrounding The 7th Annual Jovix Executive Forum held October 28-30 at The Woodlands Resort (in The Woodlands, Texas) was fitting for this year’s theme, Building the Future.

On Monday, attendees were welcomed with a reception and whiskey tasting at The Refuge Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar. With numerous out-of-towners and a handful of international travelers, the conversation and networking was a great way to kick off the festivities.

TUESDAY

Robert Fuqua

ATLAS RFID SOLUTIONS
President & CEO

Matt Avery

U.S. DEPT. OF DEFENSE
Division Chief, R&D

On Tuesday morning, Atlas RFID Solutions CEO Robert Fuqua set the tone for the event and welcomed 120+ guests to the unique event.

Next up was Matt Avery, from the Defense Intelligence Agency, who drew industry parallels on overcoming silos. Siloed information caused by limited methods for sharing information in an expedient and secure fashion has plagued a number of industries, including both industrial construction and the United States Intelligence community. Information sharing and system integration challenges experienced within the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, and among our nation’s allies can be analogous to the challenges experienced within the industrial construction industry. Specifically, like project success, mission success is dependent upon efficient and effective data flow amongst a complicated web of stakeholders often with seemingly competing priorities. Central to this effort is the need for innovative technologies that facilitate enhanced joint and integrated activity between the military, the intelligence community, federal law enforcement groups, industry, and academia.

As part of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Office of Advanced Technologies, Matt Avery leads the DIA’s continued effort to discover and develop modern technologies purposed to boost collaborative information flow among integrated systems. Matt discussed the DIA’s commitment and efforts to employing the most modern technologies to maximizing effective information flow. Furthermore, he discussed best practices in terms of scaling technology that facilitates real-time collaboration among disparate stakeholders and lessons learned in relation to challenges faced when seeking system adoption and cooperative efforts among agencies that may be driven by alternate agendas.
